BUSHRA FAKHOURY

BUSHRA FAKHOURY

Lebanese-British sculptor Bushra Fakhoury embarked on her practice from the early age of 7, at the convent where she was taught to use marzipan to create flowers and animals. The experience fuelled her imagination and pushed a sense of creativity to its limit, enabling the artist to concentrate on expression in its purest form. Fakhoury’s sources of inspiration stem from myths, fables, folklore, carnivals, parades and by observing, and studying people from diverse cultures participating in their daily activities. Her pieces can be found in private and public collections around the globe, best known for her two contemporary sculptures that grace London’s Park Lane. Rapturously received, the artwork also continues to raise awareness for the plight of the African elephant.
